Hi everyone. We have a new release where we fixed a bunch of small bugs and a pretty big one related to external links.

Probably many of you have noticed(I know for sure you did cause we got tons of emails) that in the original templates there is a menu item linking to external site. But it was impossible to create one more similar menu item cause there was no proper dialog box for that. Now we have finally added it, so you can link to your friends or the resources you consider to be important.

The download link will be available in the evening. Also I want to share some secret information that Artin2ition has almost finished their first premium aurora template, we are expecting final release in a day or so. Also the architecture of the templates will be much simplified to allow less experienced flash developers create professional flash skins for Aurora CMS.

In this short article I want to pay more attention to Aurora websites structure and the way they function. Understanding the way Aurora CMS works will help you to avoid possible mistakes while website development.  The site builder consists of 4 main elements:

1. GUI or WYSIWYG Editor (allows to manage xml data feeds in visual mode and see how the changes take effect)

2. XML Data Feeds(used to store website data, main menu structure, pages content, email settings and so on. In fact you can edit them using any text editor if you want)

3. Website Core(it connects graphics elements with dynamic data and actually allows the site to function properly)

4. Website Graphics and Elements collected in theme.swf file(it is sort of a library that consists of all graphics elements, dynamic text fields, animations and effects used in the website). This part is the most important while templates development as it defines look and feel of flash website.

architectureAnd another important component is “website preloader” which actually checks if all parts of the site builder were loaded in browser, also it handles errors. Right at the moment we are working on simplifying the structure in order to allow less experienced flash developers create their own aurora templates.

Recently we posted an article at blogspot.com describing how to create simple photo portfolio, the basis of the website was the design(premium theme) provided by LayoutsPack. These guys created nice flash website under BCL license and we just demonstrated how the photographers can use it for their own needs. Btw very soon Artin2ition will be posting professional aurora templates at flashcomponents.net Hope we all enjoy them.

Finally we have finished some legal documents allowing to use Aurora Templates for commercial purposes. In this short post I will be giving an overview of what you can do and what you can not do with Aurora site engine.

As we have stated before the product and all it’s components  is completely free for your personal use and in a couple of days we will share all Aurora source files. At the moment we are aware of 1000’s of the websites using our free site builder.

Besides that we got tons of  messages from flash developers all over the world(and especially India :-) ) inquiring  if they can use our engine and WYSIWYG editor for their commercial needs. Mostly these “commercial needs” were absolutely the same. People just want to create professional flash templates compatible with our WYSIWYG editor and sell it at stock flash websites. And thats ok! We believe it’s a good idea and we are ready to support it as much as we can. To keep things easy we decided to create 2 types of license. One for custom projects and another for templates based projects aimed at massive sales.

Basic Commercial License(BCL) – 25 EURO per unit. This license allows you to create 1 website based on aurora flash engine and sell it to 1 customer. Minimal units amounts – 1 unit.

Extended Commercial License(ECL) – 150 EURO per 10 units. This type of licensing allows you to create flash templates and sell it to as many customers as you can get. Minimal units amount – 10 units.

Some happy customers:

www.layoutspack.com – templates membership website who boosted their sales after getting ECL.

www.flashcomponents.net – just another stock website where our customers sell Aurora based flash templates.

We got tons of requests from flash developers willing to use our simple and intuitive platform as a basis for the dynamic flash websites. Some guys figured out that they can create Premium Aurora Themes for their customers, and thats a good idea we believe. Thus in a week or so we will prepare commercial license which will allow the developers use our source codes and CMS application for commercial purposes. In another words you will be able to make money using our flash source codes and content management system.

We would like to hear you opinion regarding this matter so you comments are more than welcome.

Hey everyone! Hope you are all guys doing well and we have good news for you. Yesterday we finished new flash layout for Aurora and now you can download it directly from our website. To use it you should just download the file and copy it to C:\Program Files\Aurora.org\Aurora Flash Site Builder\templates , thats it.  New things that we added are enhanced animation effects, fade in/fade out sound track and new nice preloader created based on flashmint tutorials :-) Yeah, lol we could do it ourselves but we have no designer, so we took the design and just used it as a basis for the application. Anyway it’s free so why not using it? ;-)
Ok, here is the screen shot

and the download the template link :-) Enjoy!

This tutorial is dedicated to the reader of our blog Rean who was the 1st to ask the question :-)
Ok, in fact there are 2 ways to upload the project to your server.
1. Using the ftp client software
2. Using built in AuroraFlash project uploader.

If you prefer to use 3rd parties ftp client software(we recommend to use filezilla as it is free and very convenient) you should do the following.
1. Setup ftp connection(you will need ftp host name, ftp user name and ftp password)
2. Open public_html or www folder
3. Copy all files from MyDocuments/AuroraFlashSiteBuilder(from your local PC) to /www or /public_html(at your server)
4. Open the URL of your website.
5. Enjoy :-)
If you are using “native” website publishing tool you should open Aurora application, click the “publish” button(upper left corner) and fill in all fields in the dialog box. NOTE! It is very important that your host name begins with ftp:// and public_html ends with “/”
Please take a look at screenshot for more details. Btw I am planning to add a short video soon.
